No business owner wants to have a bad hire in his/her company. A person who isn’t fit for the job or the company itself would mean a lot of consequences for himself/herself, for the company and the people around him/her. More often than not, you as a manager would spend so much time and effort forcing the employee to perform better and to do the job right this time.

Financial Cost
No matter what happens, revenue is the priority in every profitable organization. When you have a bad hire, you are paying someone who is under qualified and can’t do what he/she is being paid to do. Other than that, you might have invested on several training and workshops hoping to help him/her do better. By the time you decide to let him go, you would be forced to give him a separation fee that may not even be worth his stay in the company.

Productivity
A person who isn’t fit for the job would spend more time attempting to finish the task the way it should be and end up with a below average output. There would be constant delay in his/her deliverable and errors to get back to after feedback has been given. Though the talent’s productivity is not the only one that is affected. The supervisor of that employee would also be wasting time trying to make sure that his/her subordinate does the job right. This defeats the purpose of working efficiently and effectively as it delays both parties.

Employee Morale
Most likely, the employee is aware of his/her performance. Having people send back reports or outputs to have it fixed and constantly getting negative feedback doesn’t really feel good for any employee. He/she may be trying his/her best to meet the expectations, or he/she is just forced to do the job and is actually hating it. Either way, this doesn’t make up a healthy mentality and employee experience.

Reputation
Employees are the ones working behind every brand. Whether they go out in public in your colors or send out something that is there for everyone to see, who they are is who you are. That is why you should really invest in hiring people whom you see as qualified to carry the company name and who would make great impressions specially to your target market. You wouldn’t want to have an employee who bad mouths you to people that he/she gets to interact with nor someone who makes errors in front of clients and potential clients; that creates a bad reputation.
